I am a licensed professional counselor who strives to incorporate balance into my practice and daily life. Balance is sought out by each individual and entails a holistic process regardless of age. I am intrigued by perplexing behaviors that involve self-sabotage and learned helplessness in addition to exploring the power of thoughts and their effect on human behavior and feelings. My natural curiosity of how others think, behave and respond to stimuli in their environment was reinforced when I lived in Japan for nearly 2 years. Similar to Kachemak Bay that hugs the coastal town of Homer in which I was born and raised, I perceive humans as evolving creatures whose "waters" can be stormy, calm, and affected by the tides. No matter how brutal the storm, calmer waters inevitably approach shore. Symbolically, this represents one of my foundational values: hope. I have conducted group, individual, couples, and family therapies in outpatient settings for various issues and ages, a youth residential treatment, and a psychiatric hospital for minors. Whatever the treatment setting, I enjoy utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches while maintaining unconditional positive regard for those with whom I have the privilege to work.
