Most of the people I work with are struggling in a major relationship, and/or they're lacking a clear and contented sense of their place in the world. Both difficulties can be very painful, and may well contribute to experiences such as anxiety, depression, anger, apathy, or substance abuse. These issues have an enormous impact on a person's life satisfaction and sense of well-being. They rarely have anything to do with true mental illness, though they're often connected to the small and sometimes large psychic scars we accumulate in the course of an ordinary life. My approach is deeply humanistic and non-pathologizing. We'll pay respectful attention to your thoughts, feelings, sensations and behaviors, and discover which of your authentic resources you're underutilizing. By reconnecting you to the parts of yourself you've forgotten -- or never knew -- we'll put you on the road to satisfaction. Since I have two new groups starting this Fall, I'd like to highlight the value of group work. It's extremely powerful to experience yourself as not alone in your suffering, to have several people offer you encouragement, and to experiment with new ways of doing things in a supportive environment.
