If you're going through a major life transition, grieving a loss, or feeling 'stuck,' unfulfilled or cut off from your creativity, Jungian-oriented therapy may help you to better understand yourself and your path in life. Finding your own path with its rewards and challenges is an 'individuation' process which continues throughout life. Some points along the way are more difficult than others to find our way through. Working with a Jungian therapist can help a person deepen the relationship to his/her inner world and find more meaning in life. Jungian therapy/analysis takes into account the person's life story, personality structure, and temperament. Working with dreams helps unlock the psychic forces that underly repetitive behaviors. The symbols in dreams are looked at for the personal associations as well as their archetypal/universal significance. Having been trained both as a psychiatrist and a Jungian analyst puts me in a better position to know whether symptoms of depression and anxiety can be best treated psychologically or whether the addition of psychotropic medications would enhance the therapy.
