I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in couples therapy. Certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy, my goal is to help people reconnect and reduce the conflict that creates distance in their most important relationships. We all need to feel valued, appreciated and connected to the significant people in our lives. When this does not happen, we often experience distress. I work with people to reduce the distress they feel by helping them to heal relationships and build connections to the people who matter most. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an empirically validated, structured approach to relational therapy. EFT research shows that 70-75% of couples move from marital distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements. EFT views emotions as centrally important in the experience of self and others. From that perspective, change occurs by means of emotional awareness as well as regulation of emotion, reflection on emotion, and transformation of emotion taking place within the context of an empathetically attuned relationship.
