Once awareness is raised about how it is that life experiences can play a role in creating symptoms, we are better equipped to work through problems such as grief, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, PTSD, and the sense of hopelessness or despair. Study and practice in mindfulness has taught me how thought influences behavior and can control our state of mind. Along with traditional psychotherapy, I use my training in holistic and spiritual psychology, energy therapies, and trauma work to help clients learn how to better cope with distress and control symptoms, so they might see the bigger picture and find peace. I have a PhD in Counseling Studies and training in Transpersonal therapy, guided imagery, energy psychology, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Hypnotherapy, and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). I use these tools to help identify and clear negative experiences and beliefs, so the choices we make are strengthening and empowering, rather than depleting. As an integrative clinical counselor, I combine holistic counseling with psychotherapy to help adults understand how all parts of their life--the mind, health issues, relationships, emotion, thought, imagination, the environment--work together to help transform pain, reduce symptoms, and create meaning in life.
