My heroes are families living with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias. I enjoy helping them navigate the journey from the first symptoms through hospice. There is much that Alzheimer's can teach us: patience, empathy, enjoying the moments of life. I have worked with thousands of families and offer expertise in early diagnosis, both behavioral and pharmacologic management of symptoms, optimizing function, and caregiver issues. It is my privilege to assist families' efforts toward optimizing quality of life. Competency evaluations for guardianship and forensic psychiatry related to dementia are other services I offer attorneys. Consultations on many forensic issues that arise in a variety of legal situations when expertise of geropsychology and geropsychiatry is required are provided on a fee-for-service basis. Focus is Behavior Analysis and Interbehavioral Field Theory; a unique and holistic approach to alleviating human suffering. My authentic presence is as an equal participant with each member of the family constituting the "treatment team." Alzheimer's "treatment" means intervening with their family and friends with education targeting skill building and stress relief.
