I believe most of all in the power of change and the capacity of individuals to grow throughout the lifespan. I have the utmost respect in the inherent worth of clients and believe that my role as therapist is to assist them in achieving their goals while not imposing my value system on them. Therefore I will share observations and impressions with clients while always striving to maintain a collaborative process. Success is when a client leaves the therapeutic relationship with greater insight, personal strength, self regard, and the capacity to effect positive change in their life. I was initially trained in substance abuse treatment and family systems therapy. I also have a background in evaluation and treatment of sexual abuse victims. These experiences assist me in treating high conflict families; enrich my work with individuals and couples; and assist me in evaluating symptoms of anxiety and depression. I am also a licensed attorney specializing in family law. This gives me a unique understanding of families in transition. The resolution of conflict during this time is critical to restoring the health of all family members. As a mediator, I use my legal and psychological training to achieve that purpose.
