Leah McMillan, DPA, LMFT has extensive clinical experience ranging from being a rape crisis advocate & domestic violence assessor, to a child/adolescent therapist, a clinical supervisor, & staff counselor/Interim/Assistant Director for VSU's Counseling Center (for over 8 years). In addition, I have been clinically licensed as a LMFT since 2006 and am an active member of AAMFT & GAMFT. My clinical path has allowed me to gain significant knowledge & experience in the field of mental health & counseling, specifically working with a diverse & unique population ranging from ages 5 and up and working with couples, individuals, families & children/adolescents. My areas of specialty focus & expertise are PTSD/trauma, interpersonal & sexual violence, child abuse, bereavement/grief, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, divorce/family, infidelity, infertility, and relationship issues. I specialize in an eclectic modality of therapy utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, & systems thinking. My motto is to "STOP the hurting and START the healing." Therapy is very personal and should be treated as so. I am here to ensure my patients feel comfortable and assist them in achieving greater joy, peace, and happiness in their lives.
