I appreciate how difficult the decision can be to engage in therapy and believe in the power of having a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore the challenges life often brings. As a therapist, I am committed to being genuine and authentic with my clients. In my experiences as a professional staff member of the Alachua County Crisis Center, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clinical issues including grief, relational problems, self-injury, suicide, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and other issues that can create disconnection to oneself and others. I have provided services to those who have lost a loved one to suicide for over eight years and I believe loss, whether the loss of a person through death or the loss of other meaningful roles, relationships, or connections, often lie at the foundation of emotional distress. My areas of research and clinical interest have led me to more somatic and holistic approaches to working with clients. I have found that the body is often a neglected aspect of the therapy process and may hold more truth and insight than we give credit.
