I encourage clients to make the courageous attempt to engage in a therapuetic relationship working towards a more comfortable state of inner health and happiness. My goal is to provide a client with a supportive relational environment to safely express their needs and concerns, become involved in productive self reflection, clarify difficulties, set attainable goals and manage challenges including issues of anxiety, depression, low self esteem, family problems, relational problems, school problems, parenting problems, spirituality and other general life or developmental issues. Exploring past events and relationships as they inform current relationships, perspectives and situations of clients is often helpful. I use traditional counseling techniques tailored towards the individual. I may also use (with consent/interest) art and play materials to provide therapy to children, adolescents and adults of all ages. Art making along with other therapeutic strategies promotes self awareness and encourages discussion about thoughts and feelings. Internships include work at a support center for special needs population and, with families and individuals within a social service agency. My current post graduate experience includes working in a private practice for clients of all ages, school counseling and as an expressive arts facilitator in a therapeutic educational setting.
