My background includes working with foster children, at-risk youth, children whose parents are divorcing, children of single parent homes, grandparents raising grandchildren. I have worked with issues such as grief, low self-worth, sexual abuse, pre-adoption, foster care, witness to trauma, anger, PTSD, RAD, ADHD, ODD, social skills, adjustment disorders, depression, self harm, suicidal ideations, anxiety, and attachment. I use play therapy and expressive art techniques, role play, games, talk therapy, family therapy, and parenting education. I attend more than the required educational units per year to acquire as much knowledge in areas that will best help clients. I did my internship with a local hospice organization. Grief can be expressed due to many types of losses such as death, illness, relocation, retirement, divorce. Grief can affect a person's life spiritually, cognitively, socially, physically, and emotionally. I, personally, have experienced losses and offer hope to the hurting. I am certified in the Prepare/Enrich Couples counseling program. I also use Gottman's marital techniques with couples. While I offer premarital and marital counseling, I also offer divorce counseling in helping children to understand their changing world during their parents' divorce. I see ages 3 and up.
