The journey toward one's best self can be challenging! I partner with my clients to address specific needs of the individual in a safe environment. It has been my experience that behavior that is not helpful or skills that are not useful are the result of adaptation. Simply put, we do what we can with what we know! People come to counseling because the tools they are currently using are no longer working. I recognize that the client is the true expert in his or her own life and empower the individual with a strength based approach to therapy. I am a Certified EMDR trauma therapist and believe that reprocessing traumatic events drastically assists with the resolution of emotional conflicts and adaptive defensive behaviors that have developed as a result, but are no longer helpful.
