At Lakeview, we believe that it is never too late to turn your life around. Signs and Symptoms of Substance Abuse When people are struggling with addictions, they are not likely to make their behaviors apparent to those around them. Individuals who are chronically using drugs and/or alcohol tend to become withdrawn from family and friends without even necessarily realizing that they are doing so. This can be one indication that a problem exists. Other warning signs may gradually appear but the signs that do become apparent will vary depending on the type of substance that a person is using. In all cases, however, various aspects of the individual's life will become more and more disrupted as time passes. Substances can cause the deterioration of motivation, resulting in poor academic or occupational performance or in failing to meet one's daily responsibilities and fulfill obligations. People struggling with chemical dependency also begin to lose interest in things that they were once interested in and tend to display changes in temperament and personality. Mood swings can become prominent and aggressive outbursts that are abnormal for the individual may begin to arise. Changes in physical appearance can also result from prolonged substance abuse, as can memory loss, impaired coordination, and on overall decline in one's physical and mental health. Treatment Options at Lakeview Behavioral Health We recognize that no two people are exactly alike and that not everyone responds to treatment the same way. This is why we provide each person with his or her own individualized treatment plan that is tailored to meet his or her specific needs. Depending on where a person is at in his or her recovery, Lakeview offers a number of different treatment options to help our patients start or continue on their journey to sobriety. Upon arriving at Lakeview, each patient will be provided with a thorough evaluation in order to determine his or her exact treatment needs. For those who come to us with substances in their systems, they will first go through a medically monitored detoxification process so that all drugs and/or alcohol can be safely removed from their bodies while under the constant care of trained medical staff. In addition to detox, and as part of our inpatient programming, Lakeview offers individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, music therapy, expressive therapy, art therapy, nutritional and wellness counseling, recreational programs, and A.A. and N.A. meetings. Lakeview also offers partial hospitalization programs and intensive outpatient programs for those who do not need inpatient treatment.
