I believe that human beings have an incredible capacity to adapt to extremely difficult situations, but sometimes old coping strategies do not work in new situations. There are also many different ways that an individual can relate to others, based on his or her unique personality, family history, neurocognitive functioning, and sensorimotor experience. It is not necessarily better, but sometimes it is easier for children and adults whose behaviors are more "typical." If your experience is not typical due to trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, a learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, or chronic pain/illness, you may have additional challenges in your relationships, at work, or at school. If you are stuck in old patterns or feel overwhelmed, you may benefit from psychotherapy. I have a varied clinical practice that includes psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Using evidenced based treatment, I have helped individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of emotional, physical, and developmental concerns, deal with difficult challenges and create a life that is a better fit for who they are.
