Most of my work has been in the world of Post Adoption, with a focus on attachment and developmental trauma. I have extensive experience working with parents of complex children, who have a trauma history or for other reasons may have confusing and frustrating behaviors. I also work with other kinds of families; step, blended, kinship, and foster. I work largely with the parents(s) and child together. I see my role as a guide/coach and provider of knowledge, helping caregivers find effective parenting strategies, and creating family well being. I nurture, guide and support parents through these challenges. Adoptive parents often need support, especially if their child comes from a difficult beginning. I believe that the relationship between child and caregiver should be fostered by the therapist, and that the healing happens in the context of healthy relationships, most importantly, the child's primary relationships. I come to this work out of passion for helping individuals enjoy satisfying relationships and self fulfillment. I'm devoted to making a difference in how people see themselves and the world. I see myself as a guide; wisdom is within us, and sometimes we need reminders to reach it.
