Trained at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a clinical psychologist, I believe that I have developed a compassionate, effective approach to helping people. My work is primarily informed by a psychodynamic framework and also contains elements of cognitive behavioral techniques and family systems thinking. I am convinced that the heart of psychotherapy involves a conversation and meaningful engagement between the patient and the therapist. I have helped people with struggles related to fear, terror, shame, jealousy, humiliation, guilt, sadness, anger, excitement, joy, and passion. I have successfully treated people with depression, anxiety, phobias, mania, obsessions, compulsions, psychosis, chronic illness, and disability. I have special expertise in addressing issues related to trauma of all sorts. I take my patients' concerns seriously and very much enjoy getting to know them. I enjoy learning and encourage my patients to be curious; to enjoy what they can learn about themselves, their minds and their relationships; and to use this understanding to be more satisfied and to improve the quality of their lives.
