Sharon E Cooper
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW, LLC
Newark, Delaware 19711

I have a general psychotherapy practice and am experienced in treating a range of clients throughout the life spectrum. I have special training in the psychology of women and longstanding experience in work with clients with eating disorders, body image issues, disordered eating, childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence and other issues in female development. I have led a psychotherapy group for women in mid-life for many years. I also specialize in mindfulness practice which has greatly enriched my ability to help clients make healthier choices in life and improve relationships. I also specialize in anxiety disorders. I draw from a range of approaches to serve clients and appreciate each person's unique needs and strengths. Understanding roles women play in our culture and their ways of coping help me treat eating disorders and self-destructive behaviors with food. Mindfulness strategies are powerful tools to reduce stress and anxiety and improve relationships. Group intervention is a dynamic and effective way to grow female empowerment and relationship skills. I also offer a mindfulness based stress reduction workshop with one of my partners and we provide this workshop to businesses and organizations. Consultation and case presentation in my group practice are helpful in refining diagnosis and enhancing treatment strategies.
