Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I worked as a School Counselor for over 10 years in both regular and alternative schools. Some of my most important work has been with adolescents whose behavior has spiraled out of control due to feelings of low self worth, which can be manifested through conflict and fighting, eating disorders and self injurious behaviors. As teens become aware that their insecure feelings are common, and their peers feel as they do, they are better equipped to move forward in a positive way. When they feel better about themselves, their interactions with others, improve greatly. I am committed to helping individuals reach within and find their personal strengths by replacing negative thought patterns with positive self talk, re-framing significant life events, and identifing positive coping skills and supports. These skills remain with individuals throughout the lifespan and greatly reduce future risk factors. I also interface with schools and outside professionals at your request, to provide the most comprehensive support possible.
