If you are feeling unable to be the way you want to be, because you're depressed, anxious, too aggressive, too shy, can't concentrate, can't sleep, or have relationship difficulties, I would like to help you. I bring 30+ years of working with people who have struggled with such issues. In addition, as a faculty member of the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Psychiatry and the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, I have taught courses in the treatment of anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, and treatment of adult survivors of childhood abuse, for which I have received teaching awards. I have presented papers and chaired discussion groups at national and international conferences concerning the treatment of adult survivors of childhood trauma. I have co-authored books on interaction patterns in marriage and on brain responses to threatening thoughts. I chair two ongoing, local discussion groups for therapists who work with seriously troubled, often traumatized patients. I work with the Michigan National Guard helping returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families.
