The saying, "It is the relationship that heals," guides my work with clients. I aim to be the skilled confidant that accompanies them as they gain insight into their situation and who they are as an individual. Growing in self understanding helps them make decisions they can incorporate in their life and make their own. Their "new normal" becomes a way of life as they grow to employ the new tools they've gained in therapy. My ideal clients do not want psychological platitudes in the form of advice but want to be stretched and challenged. My specialty is directing the client by use of well tailored questions which help him or her find their way. It is a blend of client centered, psychodynamic, and insight oriented therapies. It is more important for me to help the client determine their goals and reach them efficiently. I take what the client brings me from his or her week and process it with them in light of their history, experiences, perspective, and stated treatment goals. I do not work rapidly but on the other hand do not prolong the process thus avoiding undue dependency.
