I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, chronic & traumatic stress. I utilize a mindfulness and compassion based approach. My aim is to support your process while teaching you the skills and practices needed to best manage, heal and change difficult thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Mindfulness is defined as intentional and skillful awareness. It teaches us how to become more present and patient to whatever is happening, moment to moment, with less reactivity and judgment. We begin to feel more calm, centered and focused in everyday life, and better equipped to deal with obstacles and challenges as they arise. I integrate mindfulness teaching and practice into every counseling session to encourage and strengthen the cultivation of embodied awareness, non-judgment, and self compassion. These are seen as essential qualities in the therapeutic process of developing greater capacity for self-regulation, self-examination, and insightful change. One of my goals is to support you in developing your own daily practice that very specifically helps you in becoming more skilled and effective in meeting and managing the ongoing challenges of your life, as well as to strengthen the neurological changes that occur with regular and consistent practice.
