Congratulations on either taking your first steps or continuing your journey in psychotherapy. In my practice I specialize in helping people as they confront substance use, mood, and anxiety difficulties stemming from past interpersonal violence - including partner abuse, sexual abuse/assault, and discrimination-based violence. I treat adolescent and adult survivors, including heterosexual males, people who identify as LGB, and transgender/trans* people. I offer individual, relationship/couple's, and family therapy. I rely on up-to-date approaches tied to cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness principles. These approaches are largely evidence-based - informed by (1) scientifically proven methods, (2) practice wisdom and, most importantly, (3) ongoing dialogue with you to best tailor these approaches to fit your needs. I often tell patients "the goals of my job are simple: to be helpful, and then to work myself out of a job." Meaning that, as a psychologist, my job is to equip you with helpful skills tailored just for you - and useful to you beyond your time in therapy.
