Have you experienced a significant loss? If so, you may feel vulnerable, lost and confused. Losses that are untimely or traumatic can amplify these already intense feelings. Unfortunately, a recent loss often brings up previous loss experiences. There are also times when multiple losses occur at once. In these circumstances, reliable coping strategies may not provide relief, and support may not be adequate, and people can feel isolated when they are most vulnerable. I have a long held interest in working with grief and loss with both families and individuals and a particular interest in working young widows and widowers and their families. I believe people can explore and integrate loss into their lives and begin the healing process when they feel safe and supported. I strive to create a strong, ethical therapeutic relationship with clients based on trust, respect, curiosity and compassion. I work intentionally with my clients to create a non-judgmental atmosphere conducive to healing. My work with clients is influenced by training and practice using psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, sensorimotor therapy, trauma, and cognitive-behavior therapy. This integrated approach allows me to adjust therapy to meet my clients' individual needs. My previous work as both an elementary and secondary school educator impacts my work as well.
