I am a licensed psychologist and have practiced in Maine for the past 28 years, working with adults, adolescents and children. I have a specialization in the area of grief, loss and bereavement. My experience includes helping individuals cope with the death of a child, spouse/partner, parent, sibling, friend, coworker, or pet due to illness, accidents, suicide, and aging. I focus on each person's unique circumstances and needs during the grieving process. I work toward fostering resilience and developing strategies to regain a sense of emotional equilibrium and the capacity to function, differently but effectively, following a loss. I also work with adults facing a full spectrum of life problems, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, parenting, divorce, and work issues. I integrate strategies from multiple theoretical perspectives and always focus each person's unique set of values, preferences, needs and goals for treatment. My therapeutic work often involves gaining greater self-understanding and self-acceptance; collaborative problem solving; and identifying and practicing more fulfilling patterns of thought and behavior. I also support alternative and complimentary wellness approaches. My style is genuine, down to earth, and interactive.
