For over 20 years, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents and their families to improve relationships, overcome the effects of complex trauma, and foster healthy attachments between children and parents. I have significant experience with Dyadic Developmental Therapy, an attachment theory developed by Dr. Daniel Hughes, as well as training in Trauma-Focused CBT. With children, a directive, supportive and playful approach is used to overcome shame and fear. I also treat adults with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety and personality disorders. Meeting clients where they are is important to healing emotional wounds and building confidence in personal decision making. Utilizing an eclectic approach, I address each client's concerns with empathy and honesty. I engage with clients in defining the issues that bring them to therapy--which often change based on insights gained through the process--and facilitate positive change using the most appropriate model(s). I believe that clients are best served when they understand the approaches used in therapy, and to that end, I emphasize the need for education regarding their issues. With knowledge comes power. My goal is to help clients discover the power that is within them.
