"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass . . . it's about learning how to dance in the rain." When we learn to dance in the rain of our emotional or situational anguish, we often discover self compassion and acceptance that transform the places in our minds and bodies where we feel immobilized by feelings such as worry, discouragement, heartache, fear, and anger. In my work with older adolescents, adults and couples, I am committed to helping my clients find self understanding, heal emotional pain, build relationship skills, change unhelpful patterns and create more fulfilling lives. My counseling style is encouraging, collaborative and interactive. I view acceptance, compassion, respect, safety, and clear communication as the foundations of a therapeutic relationship. I work holistically, from the understanding that our bodies, minds, and spirits all carry the effects, in one way or another, of emotional and relational stress. Because the counseling relationship needs to be a good fit, I offer a 1/2 hour, no charge introductory session to those looking for a therapist. During this time I can get an idea of what your goals are and you can get a feel for how I work.
