My approach to therapy is holistic, systemic and is grounded in humanistic, existential and client-centered theory. This perspective incorporates multiple disciplines, including Somatic (Yoga-based) and Internal Family Systems based-therapy, in the understanding of your own emotions and behavior. Systemic theory recognizes the value of our relationships with others and acknowledges that we lead interconnected lives. Working with ease and trust, this type of therapy can offer the possibility of understanding with compassion, your thought patterns, behaviors emotions and personal relationships, so that you may begin to have new awareness and find opportunities to make positive changes. Internal Family Systems Therapy is a mindfulness-based or parts-work approach to inner healing. If a client feels interested, we can combine IFS therapy with therapeutic yoga to access emotional relief in a way that can feel empowering and insightful. This can be effective for working through trauma. I am also a Certified Yoga Teacher; teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, and Restorative yoga for over 12 years. As a therapist, I am able to specialize in using yoga as a component of mental health counseling to facilitate group and individual psychotherapy.
