Psychologist, PhD

My aim is to help you work through and cope better with the reasons that bring you to therapy. Together we set and revise goals. Early in therapy I outline for you my recommended approach for overcoming obstacles that pose problems so you can achieve the relief you seek. I ask questions and suggest alternatives. I listen carefully to your concerns and do my best to respond to them. We work together to bring about the relief you seek. When I work with a couple, I focus on the communication issues and interpersonal dynamics that often cause problems. My approach to therapy is results-oriented. I integrate cognitive behavior therapy and ACT principles that are proven by research. With OCD and phobias I use exposure and response prevention or ERP. For obesity and eating disorders, I rely on proven behavioral interventions as well as cognitive therapy. As the author of 9 books related to behavioral medicine and over 20 years of experience, I believe I am able to help with anxiety disorders (OCD, phobias, social anxiety, general anxiety), depression, and eating disorders, including Binge Eating Disorder. I also have experience with bariatric patients, ADD, and relationships.
