My practice is geared towards adults, both individuals and couples, and adolescents who are seeking support with life's many challenges. Some people feel overwhelmed by the challenges and are not functioning very well on a day-to-day basis. Others function well but are not happy and want something to change. Some people have made the choice to seek help on their own and others are encouraged or occasionally required to see a therapist. Regardless of the reasons, my role is to support, challenge, and listen to each person's concerns I have a specialty in trauma recovery that includes sexual victimization, particularly for males, as well as other traumas on the spectrum of physical and emotional abuse and neglect. These traumas sometimes impact a person's ability to trust self and others, especially if the aggresor was in a position of authority. I am seeing more couples in my practice and find the basic struggles to be similar for both straight and gay clients. My approach focuses on the current impasses with an understanding of the family-of-origin dynamics that are often tangled up in the present relationship.
