I have experience working with individuals who are struggling with stress and anxiety, depression and adjustments to different stages of life. I work from the perspective that each and every individual possesses unique and powerful characteristics from which strength and resilience can be drawn. I believe that therapy can play an essential role in assisting the individual to uncover those personal attributes and develop skills that can effectively change their circumstance. I focus on providing a safe and accepting environment where clients can gain an understanding of and practice using skills that can significantly improve their lives. I also believe that our cultural backgrounds are an essential part of who we are. I am of Scandinavian decent, however I have a great appreciation for cultural backgrounds of all kinds. I am fluent in Spanish and have found great satisfaction working with Spanish speaking individuals from numerous origins. As part of my practice, I have worked for over a decade with adolescents struggling with mood disorders and addictions. Adolescence is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming time for both teens and their families. Overcoming those seemingly insurmountable challenges together can be a deeply rewarding familial experience for everyone involved.
