I specialize in treating difficulties with anxiety, depression, mood regulation, and trauma in adults and adolescents. I also treat couples/relationship issues, sexual concerns, and eating disorders. My theoretical orientation emphasizes mindfulness-based and cognitive therapies and integrates principles from contemporary psychodynamic and existential therapies. In my work I am continually inspired by the human potential for psychological flexibility, behavioral and emotional change, and greater self-understanding. My research at UVM in women's sexuality has informed my work/comfort with sexual concerns, while my studies in Buddhist philosophy have strengthened my implementation of mindfulness-based therapies. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship facilitates positive psychological growth. As a therapist, I strive to be compassionate and fully present, and work within the therapeutic relationship to help each person realize their potential to live a valued life with meaning and purpose, while making room for life's inevitable stressors and pain. I have practiced in a variety of settings, including a large medical center and a community clinic. In preparation for licensure as a psychologist-doctorate, I am currently working under the supervision of Dr. Paul Foxman at the Center for Anxiety Disorders.
