My ideal client is a family or couple in the midst of a situational crisis. They may need help navigating changes such as: a member with special needs, adolescent years, an affair, remarriage/stepfamily issues, illness and death. I strongly believe many people have the capacity to manage life's challenges, however they may need to learn more skillful communication of their needs and desires. It has been my privilege to help restore innate strengths as well as to nurture untapped abilities to overcome stresses and symptoms of depression, anxiety and confusion associated with these life changes. I adapt techniques to client's specific needs and unique personalities. We create a partnership to encourage active participation in therapy. Clients learn to take control of their emotions, to identify and break unhealthy patterns and to respond effectively. Brain-based exercises will be employed to help shift behavior. Frequently, people say, "S/He just doesn't get it!". I teach people how to identify one's own and others unique perspectives and patterns thereby facilitating more effective communication. People with relationship issues then become more successful at expressing themselves and grow towards developing greater harmony and intimacy.
