I believe the struggle that comes with managing everyday life can be as debilitating as major trauma. Anxiety, depression, irritability, low frustration tolerance, no patience....these are all important indicators to understand and perhaps a wake up call from your unconscious mind (or partner or child) to let you know things need to shift in order for you to find peace and increased mood stability, living a more conscious life. My style is relational and attachment oriented, using mindfulness and teaching self regulation. When anxiety and depression are examined and held in a safe place, your true self can emerge. I work with all ages and stages of development; grief and loss, child sexual abuse, major adjustments, divorce, co-parenting, blended families, gender and sexual identity, and the difficult transitions of child and adulthood. I am trained in EMDR for trauma and group work with adolescents and children. You will find in me someone who is thoroughly knowledgable in many areas of practice due to my teaching and research history. I am psychodynamically trained and have expertise in interpersonal neurobiology. I believe that in exploring those places that hurt we are freed to love ourselves and others safely.
