I work closely with my clients to establish a relationship based upon mutual trust and respect, together building a therapeutic environment in which my clients can feel safe and understood. My work is focused on children and adolescents, although I also work with parents. I am trained in a variety of treatment approaches, including psychodynamic, attachment theory, EMDR, CBT, mindfulness, mind/body and trauma-focused therapies. This allows me to choose the best approach for each client. Along with my clients (and their parents, when appropriate), we establish clear treatment goals, and work together to achieve them. I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and spent several years as Research Associate at the University of California, San Francisco Medical School, where I studied adolescent risk-taking behavior and related health outcomes. I have authored several publications related to adolescent health and well-being. Prior to entering private practice, I was a clinician at The Bennington School, a residential treatment program for adolescents who have experienced significant life trauma. In addition to my practice, I currently teach psychology at Southern Vermont College, and run an outdoor experiential learning program for young teens.
