I try to get an idea of things first session and move to resolution quickly. Nothing fancy. Training was: Waldorf HS of Adelphi University (Merit Commendation, Regents Schol), BA from Brown University, (Editor of Rhode Island Psychological Association Newsletter), graduated APA Approved Clinical Psychology Program (Dissertation Fellowship, multiple research grants, tuition waiver, Teaching Assistantship seven semesters ), APA-Approved clinical psychology internship at University of Nebraska Medical School. Admitted to FSU Law School, and photography study at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Moderator of 900 member Florida Licensed Psychology listserv. Currently in Johns Hopkins Science Writing Program. Clients are diverse. Some are professional, students, or active duty family. Also see veterans and special forces or covert from previous eras, and active duty if authorized. No tolerance for gimmicky, pseudo scientific, or new age treatments, commercialization of our services, or having a rigid practice model. Emphasize confidentiality, conservative treatment and independent opinion. We get to the point quickly, give an accurate assessment, and communicate with other health personnel if needed. If client would do better with someone else, I refer them out. There are some good psychologists in town--personal fit is important.
