I work with children and adults who are having problems coping with everyday life due to depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, and more. I have provided therapy in a multitude of settings, including residential treatment facilities, community mental health centers, foster care, outpatient, and addiction treatment centers. My approach in therapy is based on cognitive-behavioral concepts, as I believe that one can change how they feel by challenging their thoughts and feelings and learning to interpret life experiences in a positive way. Often, the meaning that individuals attach to life experiences is what keeps them stuck in their mental distress. Experience has taught me that individuals have different needs in therapy based on life experiences, and therapy is a collaborative approach to assist one in meeting treatment goals. My goal is to explore, with you, problem areas in your life.and to work together to promote self-growth and healing. My experience includes childhood related disorders, mood disorders, addictions, abuse and neglect, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders. In addition to CBT approaches, I may augment sessions with motivational interviewing and dialectical behavior therapy. I am becoming certified to provide Trauma Focused CBT to assist individuals heal from traumatic life experiences.
