I have been in practice for over 20 years, working with adults, children and adolescents in psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis. The frequency and duration of each treatment depends on the unique needs of every person; for example, a college student may be seeking short-term therapy to deal with the transition from home to school or an adult may be seeking longer term treatment to understand a pattern of failed relationships. Children are often referred by family members or school counselors, who provide valuable background information to help determine the best treatment. Ongoing collaboration with parents and professionals is essential. While the treatment needs for each adult, adolescent or child may be different, the goal is the same; that is, to understand better the meaning of one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors and through understanding, a chance for more lasting happiness and satisfaction in work, school, friendships and intimate relationships. In addition to providing therapy to adults, children and adolescents, I also conduct developmental assessments of infants and young children. If parents or other outside professionals begin to worry about a child's progress on the path to normal development, the sooner this can be assessed and treated, the better.
