I approach the therapy process with curiosity, compassion, and creativity. I strive to bring energy and hope to my clients. By sharing stories, building on strengths, listening deeply, and shifting perspectives, the storms of life are explored and translated into new opportunities for growth. Working with teens and families is somewhat like cross-cultural counseling, in that it's important to translate what people mean and intend in new ways. By looking at areas of arrested development, mindsets that limit options, and cultivating resilience, people can honor and reclaim how they see themselves and the world. I believe that in spite of whatever difficulty one is facing, they need not be alone, that the limitation need not paralyze the rest of life, and by opening and uncovering what is most meaningful, people make choices in ways that are aligned with their values, culture, beliefs, and spirit. My background is in community development, child protection, early childhood mental health, family violence, and walking with teens in their courageous efforts to navigate multiple expectations. By cultivating authentic alliances, recognizing that people view things differently, and being willing to try new movement and approaches to relating, liberation occurs.
