While I enjoy and am especially trained in working with couples, I also provide therapy for individuals age 17 and above. I focus on healthy boundaries, self-esteem, and relationship issues to help clients live more authentically and to have a better connection to self and others. Many coping strategies developed while growing up no longer work well in adulthood--often keeping one "stuck" and preventing him/her from being truly relational with others whether it be partners, children, parents, co-workers, employers, or friends. I help clients to have successful relationships and to live more satisfying lives. I have extensive training in Pia Mellody's treatment for codependence and boundary issues. With couples, I am trained in Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy, which teaches individuals specific tools they can use to improve themselves and their relationship. For depression and anxiety, I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. There is homework given between sessions: it ranges from reading books, listening to CDs, completing workbooks, journaling, medical consultations, and/or attending specific workshops that further growth and healing. I am available for evening and alternate weekend appointments with prior notice and extended or half-length sessions.
