As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist I promote the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship and an accepting and nurturing environment in which people of all ages can grow and change. Together we develop goals and the most effective treatment options. These include Play Therapy for children, parent/child relationship therapy, parenting education/coaching, insight oriented verbal therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, stress management, and Sand Tray Therapy. Issues addressed include anxiety, depression, grief/loss, behavioral problems, relationship problems, stress management, parenting, divorce, and trauma. I offer individual sessions for adults, children and adolescents and family sessions. Through Play Therapy children use their natural language of play to communicate feelings, regulate behavior, and resolve problems in a creative child-friendly environment. Parents are an important part of treatment. I include them in sessions as needed and provide separate meetings to develop the most effective parenting strategies. One special treatment option I offer is Sand Tray Therapy. Clients select miniature objects from a large collection to create a symbolic world in a tray of wet or dry sand. Together we explore how this world relates to their life and identify and practice how to make healthy changes.
