I work with individuals, couples and families using Narrative Therapy. I was Program Director for a 3 year Post Grad Psychotherapy Training in New Zealand, a licensed counseling supervisor there, and accredited to treat sexually abused clients. In the US, I studied humanistic/ transpersonal therapy at UCSB and JFKU. Narrative strongly emphasizes context: the larger narratives impacting individual circumstances. I work with clients to deconstruct problem narratives, then explore emerging narratives that reflect the preferred reality of the client. I am an experienced practitioner who has seen a wide variety of issues over the course of my 35 year practice. Narrative explores "landscapes of identity", attending to story lines which have dropped from client awareness. Narrative explore those landscapes across arcs of time, character development, and changing themes. A client's life always has story lines where she/he has acted "outside" the problem. Once discovered, these stories are thickened. I've taught the following university level psychotherapy courses: "Narrative Therapy", "Group Psychotherapy", "Schools of Psychotherapy", "Abnormal Psychology", "Transpersonal Psychotherapy", "Personality and Psychotherapy" and "New Religious Movements". I've also authored a book on abuses of organizational power entitled "Quiet Horizon: Releasing Ideology and Embracing Self-Knowledge."
