My specialty is stress management using a holistic approach. I realize after working in the field of mental health that much of the anxiety/depression that clients are struggling with is related to stress, either from their past or present. Receiving professional care for physical problems is important as is care for spiritual (hopelessness) and mental problems. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. Receiving professional help to communicate more effectively can be very helpful. My counseling approach includes cognitive behavioral, family and couples work. I enjoy teaching relaxation techniques (mindfulness) and helping clients with healthier lifestyle choices. My nursing background has prepared me to coordinate care with prescribing professionals. My first degree is as a registered nurse. I worked in inpatient mental health for 5 years and found it to be very rewarding. My masters degree is in psychiatric nursing and my PhD is in Health Education.
