I am an intensively trained DBT therapist and a registered, board certified art therapist. In my practice, I strive to encourage a balance of acceptance and change. I work to create an environment of compassion and non-judgment, while also offering my clients a combination of ways to reduce stress, express themselves more fully, maintain successful relationships, and cope with difficult thoughts and emotions. I am happy to work with people of all ages--from children to older adults--and have experience working with a wide range of challenges including stress and anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and eating disorders. Art therapy is effective for many clients, including older adults experiencing cognitive decline or recovering from stroke/brain injury, medically ill children, people recovering from trauma, and patients diagnosed with eating disorders. Art therapy provides hope, a sense of purpose, social engagement, and an outlet for processing and expressing emotions. Both art therapy and DBT offer clients skills for managing distress, regulating emotions, learning to be present in the moment, and having successful relationships.
