When people search for counseling they are seeking relief from distress. Each person's coping tendencies are influenced by the interplay of his or her unique biological & psychological make-up, as well as, family, social and spiritual experiences. My primary goal in a counseling session is to create a safe place to explore thoughts, feelings, actions and strengths in a calm, curious, non-judgmental manner. Together, we will find new ways to help you manage internal & external conflict. I believe that when people are genuinely understood and valued by themselves and another, they are empowered to self-facilitate positive transformations. I hold an MS in Counseling and a Certificate of Expertise in Family Systems from the University of Southern Maine. During my clinical mental health internship, I worked with clients at the New England Family Institute in Portland and at the Employee Assistance Program at L.L. Bean in Freeport. In addition to my counseling work, I have also been a classroom teacher, the art director at a day camp, and for the past 17+ years, a parent. I see beginning counseling as a sign of both courage and hope. Please call me to discuss how working with me may be of help to you.
