Have you ever stood at a crossroads, wondering what to do? Life in general, and personal relationships in particular, can be very stressful, and often people find themselves wondering where to go next with their questions and their pain. I help a person learn to live in better quality relationships with self and others. Clients receive a healthy model of relationship and an objective, professional perspective they may not otherwise get from well-meaning friends and family. Clients learn to evaluate their thoughts, feelings, instincts, values, and behaviors in order to gain a less anxious, more balanced perspective on life. Whether working with an individual, couple, or family, I primarily work from a family systems perspective, helping clients understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in context, and empowering them to grow emotionally through their relationship struggles. I further assess for anxiety, depression, and mental illness, making professional referrals if necessary. A former lawyer, I became a therapist so that I could help people resolve rather than escalate conflict. Thus, I am especially well-suited for discernment counseling, marriage/family therapy and even divorce counseling for those who have already decided to end their marriage but need help ending it well.
