I'm Dr Sonia Maxwell, co-owner and practice manager at Bellagio Psychotherapeutics. My hope is that you will leave therapy more confident in your strengths and your ability to make wise choices, in your personal life or at work. While respecting what is uniquely you, I will guide you in identifying the root of your current challenge and best ways to resolve it. I work with diverse populations and have a respectful sensitivity to cultures, sexual orientation, and religious/spiritual beliefs. Depending on your needs and preferences, I offer short-term counseling or in-depth therapy that explores a history of negative patterns. I also offer counseling for couples and tweens/teens and specialized EMDR treatment. For couples work, I am certified in Prepare/Enrich and use other well-respected approaches. Couples most often need help breaking negative cycles, learning how to state their frustrations and wants in a respectful yet effective manner, or coparenting well after divorce. My work with tweens and teens includes issues with self-esteem, identity, and family relationships.
