Acceptance and Change. These two things seem like complete opposites don't they? Carl Rogers believes "When I accept myself, then I can change". We spend a lot of time hearing and believing that we, they, it needs to change to be "better" or "different". This creates a sense of loss, poor self esteem, depression, anxiety, and conflict within ourselves and with those we love. I believe when we accept others, family, loss etc, then change can happen within that as well. Therapy IS about change; learning new skills, stopping habits, doing life differently. I would like to help you with learning how to accept first, change second. My approach in therapy is to first accept you for who you are and to guide you through acceptance and change. I also believe therapy should be creative and flexible. I enjoy working with children, teens, adults, and families. I have much experience working with trauma and those affected by traumatic situations. I have also had the great honor of working for many years with active duty and reserve military service members and their families addressing the impact of pre/post deployment.
