My main objective is to empower clients to conquer their problems. When you come into my office I will tell you I have never fixed anyone but have assisted them in finding tools to solve their problems. The first step is defining the problem, then finding tools to solve the problem. After graduating from BYU, my wife and I worked with delinquent boys in Ettie Lee Homes for Boys in California and Utah so have done a lot of work with behavior problems in youth. I taught Divorce Ed classes in Utah so work well with divorcing parents and children. I have worked a lot with adolescent school problems, discipline and behavior problems. I do drug and alcohol abuse counseling, depression, anxiety, marriage and family counseling. My approach to substance abuse is to help the client find solutions to solve their problems rather then use alcohol or drugs for medication. Helping my clients overcome problems is very rewarding. My philosophy is as soon as a client is able to solve problems they don't need my help. My average length of sessions is six to ten. The length of therapy depends on how hard clients work.
