HS Sullivan wrote, "Your emotional life is not written in cement during your childhood. You write each chapter as you go along." My role is to help you to write (and re-write) each chapter of your emotional life by building a bridge from your present experiences and feelings to those formed before you had agency and choice. I strive to create a safe environment where, together, we can explore the chapters of your life in order to give you the insight necessary to implement change, alleviate suffering, and grow as a thinking and feeling person in a complicated world. While Object Relations, Family Systems, and Relational Therapy significantly inform my approach, I draw from a much broader spectrum of therapeutic modalities. Similarly, although I have particular expertise working with teenagers and their families, my experience and training encompass people of all ages and struggles. Lastly, I recognize the fraught history of the field of psychology in relation to various diversity issues (among them, trans identity, class, race, and sexuality), and seek through ongoing inclusivity training to ensure that my therapeutic environment does not replicate this history.
