I provide assessment, diagnosis and psychotherapy for persons suffering from sexual addiction. I trained at Columbia University in NYC. I endeavor to assist my clients to cultivate awareness of their inherent strengths, to identify destructive patterns and in the process experience new freedom in their lives. A task-based model developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes is employed to provide the structure for treatment and recovery. I support and work with the partners and family members of the sexually compulsive person who often suffer detrimental effects from the addict's behavior and related infidelity (ies). Behaviors associated with sexual addiction include excessive use of online pornography; infidelity; promiscuity leading to relationship infidelity; compulsive masturbation, and transactional sex (prostitution). Often, the sex addict suffers from isolation, shame, depression, loss of energy, and, at times, an increase in drug and alcohol abuse. From a strengths based, positive perspective, I endeavor to assist my clients to cultivate awareness and acceptance of their current life crises and to help them cease destructive behavior. We can then identify and draw forth forth their inherent resources to gain personal healing and family reconciliation.
